Orioles interested in Plouffe?
Jayson Stark recently reported on ESPN.com that the Orioles have been looking around for possible short stops and Twins prospect, Trevor Plouffe, is on the list.
Stark’s information came from a source outside of the Orioles camp that said they would love to do what the Tampa Bay Rays did with Jason Bartlett a few years ago and “find a guy who hasn’t quite made it where he is now but who they project just needs a change of scenery.”
Of course, Bartlett was traded from the Twins to the Rays, so why not go back to the source?
Plouffe seemed to impress the right people with his short stint on the club, so I have my doubts that the Twins would go through with a deal unless the right opportunity presented itself. I am not at all familiar with the Orioles farm system, but I am almost positive that the Twins would not find a good fit off their current roster for a potential trade.
I am hoping that Plouffe returns to the Twins 25-man roster sooner or later.
