Punto to undergo “minor” surgery on wrist
January 30, 2010
Punto is expected to recover in time to be back in spring training in a few weeks.
Wrist surgery seems to be the procedure of the week as both Twins players Nick Punto and catcher Jose Morales have had wrist surgery this week. Morales underwent a bit more extensive surgery then Punto and will be out anywhere from four to eight weeks according to Bill Smith.
Although the Twins believe Morales will be ready for Opening Day, Smith has not ruled out other internal options for the position if necessary. Wilson Ramos is offensively the better player, but Drew Butera has more experience in Triple A Rochester.
As for Nick Punto, the Twins will be expecting him to be ready to play when position players report late next month on Febuary 26.
