Hardy to DL, Tolbert called up
JJ Hardy has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left wrist contusion. Hardy injured his wrist during his highlight reel ninth inning on May 4th against the Detroit Tigers. The injury occurred while Hardy slid into third base after hitting a triple off the wall in center field. Hardy hasn’t played since that night and his stint on the disabled list will be retroactive to May 5th.
Ron Gardenhire and the Twins felt some time on the disabled list may be necessary and flew Matt Tolbert into the Twin Cities just in case. With Hardy going on the DL, Tolbert has been activated on the roster and will be with the team as they start a two game series against the Chicago White Sox. Tolbert has played in 27 games this season with Rochester where his batting average is .232 with one home run and five RBI.
Matt Tolbert has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Twins and has a career average of .251 in 112 games in the major league level.
