About
Minnesota… baseball… the Twins! This site is for all baseball fans, but more specifically for those fans of the Minnesota Twins.
The Twins have a great history that dates back to 1901 and the creation of the American League. When the American league started, the franchise was a charter member (one of eight) and the team was known as the Washington Senators. In 1905 the team changed their official name to the Washington Nationals until the team moved to Minneapolis after the 1960 season. Major League Baseball granted Minneapolis an expansion team in 1960. Team president Calvin Griffith requested that the team be allowed to move to Minneapolis instead and grant the expansion team to Washington. The league approved the request and the team moved to Bloomington, MN and played at the Metropolitan Stadium. The team moved into the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in 1982. The Twins will be moving once again, into the new Target Field spring of 2010.
The franchise has three World Series Championships (1924 as the Washington Senators and 1987 and 1991 as the Minnesota Twins) and six American League Championships.
With such a rich history, the Minnesota Twins are fan favorites around the country.!
