Twins still looking to upgrade at third

July 25, 2008

It appears the Twins are still trying to work out an Adrian Beltre trade with Seattle. They have also spoken with the Rangers about Hank Blalock and to the Indians about Casey Blake. This seems odd as Buscher has been hitting the ball well (.250 average over 29 games) until this current 0 for 6 streak.

One would have to wonder why they are being so aggressive for Beltre and or Blalock, when they already have a large contract for Lamb and current third baseman Buscher has been playing well. If they are going to actually make a play for Blake they will have some competition as several teams including the Rays and the Mets have expressed interest.

Good news Twins fans. It looks like the Rays are passing on Xavier Nady. Seems the asking price from Pittsburgh is more then they want to spend. Now they are looking into Casey Blake from the Indians’. Blake always seems to play well against the Twins, so it would be great to see him go to another division.
